“Focus” Insults Greeks, Once Again
German magazine Focus publishes a manipulated depiction of the Venus de Milo, once again. The cover reads “Greece and our Money” and will be out on news stands by Monday. Venus with a little help from Photoshop has become a “beggar”, which according to the German magazine characterizes Greece and the help the country has asked from the EU and IMF.


Last month Bulgaria’s Commission for Unfair Competition fined Sofia-based alcohol producer Sis Industries the sume of € 613,079 for producing and advertising a drink by the name of Ouzaki Zorbas. This name was found to be confusingly similar to Greece’s most popular drink, ouzo!

Dentists in the southwest Bulgarian cities of Sandanski and Petrich have reported a massive influx of Greek clients who prefer to come to Bulgaria for treatment because the quality of service is “just as good but considerably cheaper”, the Bulgarian private national channel BTV was quoted as saying on March 23 2010.


Three people were arrested on Thursday in Bulgaria for participation in an infant trafficking ring active in Greece.

HBO mini series on World War II censored in TurkeyA 10-episode HBO miniseries about World War II will air in Turkey minus a scene featuring dialogue about “Turks torch Smyrna” after recapturing the Aegean city from the Greek Army during the war of independence. ... The matter has turned into a dispute in the Turkish press, as Turkish columnists have expressed their agreement with CNBC-e and official Turkish history, saying the fire in Smyrna was the work of the retreating Greek army and the Greek community in the city. Others, however, say the fire started after the recapture of the city by the Ottomans.
